Alps Route

This is a challenging trek across the Western Alps from Italy to France with several tough ascents and descents. Skirting the mighty Mont Blanc on the first day to cross Col de la Seigne at 2,516m sets the pace for this impressive trek. Day 2 takes in further glaciers, alpine valleys and mountain passes. A final morning hike on Day 3 brings you to the finish line in Chamonix.

Thursday 21st June - Day 2: 0-30km

Stage 1: Courmayeur (1222m) to Elisebetta hut (2195m) ~ 17km

We start early this morning for a gradual climb to the first rest stop at Maison Vielle Refuge at Lac Checrouit (5km, 1646m). From here we continue to climb 300m to L'Arpe Vieille with magnificent views of Mount Blanc from the Italian side. Descending to the valley floor, we begin the second significant climb to Elizabetta Refuge for lunch overlooking the Blanche Glacier and the Swiss Frontier.    

Stage 2: Elisebetta Hut (2195m) to Les Chapieux (1555m) ~ 13km

A further 3km from lunch takes us to the highest point of the challenge, Col de La Seigne at 2,516m, beyond which lies France. As we start our last descent, the Val de Glacier opens before us and the mighty rock pinnacles of the Aiguilles des Glaciers towers above. The afternoon rest stop is at Mottets Refuge (25km, 1864m), followed by a final 5km to the hamlet of Les Chapieux where we will overnight at the refuge.

Topography Day 1

Friday 22nd June - Day 3: 30-61km  

Stage 3: Les Chapieux (1555m) to Contamines (1164m) ~  17km

After breakfast and a quick group warm up we re-start our challenge by climbing to our first rest stop at the Refuge Col du Bonhomme (7km, 2443m). The next section of descent into our lunch point at Contamines has stunning views overlooking the beautiful foothills and valleys of the Western Alps. 

Stage 4: Contamines (1164m) to Col de Voza (1600m) ~ 14km

Another climb after lunch takes us to our afternoon rest stop at Miage Refuge (24km, 1560m) in the hamlet of Le Truc. The final challenging climb brings us to Col du Tricot at 2120m before hiking to the hotel at Col de Voza.

Topography Day 2

Saturday 23rd June - Day 4: 61-74km 

Stage 5: Col de Voza (1600m) to Chamonix (1040m) ~ 14km

After out last mountain breakfast we have a steep descent into the beautiful Chamonix Valley. Coming across a busier alpine village, Les Houches, we find our morning rest stop (6km, 981m). A further 7km of steady trekking brings us to cross the finish line at Chamonix where medals, fizz and congratulations await!

The afternoon is free for you to rest or explore the adventure capital of the Alps before a group evening meal to celebrate an incredible challenge!
