Mont Blanc Route
The challenge is tough as it's a mixture of distance and height gain over 2 days. We start along the Contamines Valley and then the big climb over the 2,433m Col du Bonhomme on the first day's trek before camp in the hamlet of Les Chapieux. Day 2 takes us over the 2,516m Col de la Seigne as we head into Italy and then down to a finish line in Courmayeur.
Friday 23 June - Day 2 - 0-31km
Leg 1- Col de Voza to Miage Refuge ~ 7.5km
This morning we have a 3km warm-up, walking directly from our hotel to the base of the Bionnassay Glacier. From here we climb to our first 360 degrees spectacular panorama for the day and then descend to our first rest stop at the Miage Refuge at 7.5km.
Leg 2- Miage Refuge to Refuge de la Balme ~ 12.5km
After continuing down to the Contamines Valley. Our big climb starts here, we stop again after 20km at La Balm for some hot food and drinks before continuing to our highest point for the day at the Col du Bonhomme 2500m. At the modern refuge and after 25km we have our well deserved afternoon rest stop overlooking the beautiful foothills and valleys of the western Alps.
Leg 3- Col du Bonhomme to Les Chapieux ~ 11km
At the modern refuge and after 26km we have our well deserved afternoon rest stop overlooking the beautiful foothills and valleys of the western Alps. From here the 6km descent ends at the hamlet of Les Chapieux where our camp is fully set up waiting for us. Tonight we have a good hot meal to help us recover from our tough first day and sleep early in preparation for tomorrow's challenge.

Saturday 24 June Day 3 - 31-61km
Leg 1 - La Chapieux to Refuge du Mottets ~ 5km
We start today walking along the Valley du Glacier until we get to our first rest stop at the Ville des Glaciers at the foot of the Col de Ia Seigne. Here the views are dominated by the magnificent rock pinnacles of the Aiguilles des Glaciers.
Leg 2- Refuge du Mottets to Elisebetta Hut~ 8km
We start climbing the steep path up to the Col 2516m, beyond which lies Italy. The views from here are amazing as they sweep down the long straight Val Veni, then up the opposite Val Ferret to the Swiss frontier. We soon reach the splendid Elisabetta Hut where we have our lunch over-looking the Les Blanche glacier.
Leg 3- Elisebetta hut to Courmayeur ~ 17km
We continue for one last climb to La Checrouit and the magnificent Maison Vielle Refuge for a final stop - then downhill all the way down to the finish line - and then a welcome hotel.
